pour envoyer = to send (et non pas for)
and thus make a living = problème logique, ce n'est pas en envoyant de l'argent à leurs familles qu'ils gagnent leur vie (cause/conséquence).
ces transferts = these remittances (these = ces, this = cet)
come vs return:

Citation :

verb ( past came |keɪm|; past part. come ) [ intrans. ]
1 move or travel toward or into a place thought of as near or familiar to the speaker : Jessica came into the kitchen | they came here as immigrants | he came rushing out.

Correction proposée:

Citation :

This text deals with migrant workers from Bangaldesh, who go abroad - mostly to Southeast Asia or the Middle East - to earn a living and send money back to their families.
These remittances have a great impact on the economic situation; in Bangladesh, they are the country's second largest source of foreign revenue. Families have used this money to add rooms to their houses, buy colour televisions, or buy such luxuries as fluffy fleece blankets from Malaysia.
Thanks to globalisation, workers can go abroad - the world is open to them.
Some of them succeed; however (/nevertheless), others return to their country of origin empty-handed and go back to working in the fields.
