Indeed, 2,3m notherners have never visited south, the most part of them prefer travelling abroad rather than explore their own country.
Moreover ithere are cultural barriers between the two parts : 3/5 of notherners describe southerners as snobs and for southerners the north is a desolate landscap, they criticize each other .

There is a huge gap (= immense fossé) between the North and the South of the England.
