Pb Randeon 9600 Pro avec Mandrake 9.2

Hello tout le monde,
je viens d'installer la mandrake 9.2 sur ma bécanne.Pendant l'installation g eu aucun problème.Mais aparament ma carte graphique ne doit pas etre compatible. je n'arrive pas a passer en mode graphique.Quand je tape "startx", j'ai un message, assez long, qui me parle de ma carte.C'est une gigabyte randeon 9600 Pro.C'est peut etre un pb de drivers...
Je ne connais pas grand chose sur linux mais je voudrais m'y inicier.
Sinon j'ai téléchargé les drivers de ma CG pour linux, mais encore une fois, comment l'installer ??
SVP, les linuxiens, pouvez vous m'aider en me disant comment faire.J'aimerais tant oubier Windoze pour un momment....

C'est peut-etre ca le probleme. Il faut installer les drivers.

C'est comme fichier ton driver ?

.rpm -> rpm -hiv driver.rpm
.tar.gz -> tar xvfz drvier.tar.gz

L'installation c'est totalement fait en mode grahique. Ensuite lors du reboot, je tombe en mode texte. la je m'identifie et je fais "startx".Et la il me met une page d'erreurs...
Ca fait deux fois ke j'installe la mandrake. je suis pas du tout fort sur linux, je suis dépassé la.

Deja, si l'installation s'est faite en mode graphique, c'est que ta carte marche, donc c'est un bon point.

Tu as bien lu toute la doc pour les drivers ?

Par exemple, pour les cartes NVidia, on doit éditer le fichier /etc/X11/XFconfig-4

file syntax than the 3.x series did, and so to allow both 3.x and 4.x

"/etc/X11/XF86Config" be used (actually, that is an over-simplification

provide their own tool for generating an XF86Config file. For more
on XF86Config file syntax, please refer to the man page.

If you already have an XF86Config file working with a different driver
(such as the 'nv' or 'vesa' driver), then all you need to do is find
the relevant Device section and replace the line:

Driver "nv"
(or Driver "vesa" )

with

Driver "nvidia"

In the Module section, make sure you have:

Load "glx"

You should also remove the following lines:

Load "dri"
Load "GLcore"

if they exist. There are also numerous options that can be added to
the XF86Config file to fine-tune the NVIDIA XFree86 driver. Please see
Appendix D for a complete list of these options.

Once you have configured your XF86Config file, you are ready to restart
X and begin using the accelerated OpenGL libraries. After you restart X,
you should be able to run any OpenGL application and it will automatically
use the new NVIDIA libraries. If you encounter any problems, please
see the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS section below.

Fais bien attention d'avoir la bonne version de kernel-source d'installée .
Fait un "uname -a"
note la version du kernel
si c'est 2.4.22-10mdk, alors fais urpmi kernel-source-2.4.22-10mdk .

Then it begins compilation of the kernel module, but fails. That is normal, it has no kernel 2.4.22 in his base.

6. cd /lib/modules/fglrx/build_mod

7. ./make.sh

8. cd .. (you go to /lib/modules/fglrx directory)

9. ./make_install.sh

10. Two choices :

- Type "XFdrake --expert" and choose the driver "Radeon (fglrx)", then XFree with accelerated 3D. It is the easiest way, I don't know if it works for everyone.

OR

- edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 then add in the Module section
Load "dri"

also add a new section :

Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection

Then replace Driver "radeon" by Driver "fglrx"

Restart X (startx) as user (not root).

Ok, c'est bon j'ai réussi a installer le driver. En fesant un
rpm -i --force fglrx-glc22-4.1.0-3.2.8.i586.rpm et ca a marchéééé.
Bref maintenant c'est le son !!!
Quand j'allume mes enceintes j'ai un bip infernal. Pour rappel j'ai une Hercules Muse 5.1 DVD comme carte son. Vais essayer de faire pareil qu'avec la carte graphique mais bon, c'est pas gagné.En tout cas, si quelqu'un a une idée, je suis preneur...

1) Google est ton ami. tape les mots cles "hercules muse linux"
2) Fonction recherche du forum. Y'a surement quelqu'un qui a du rencontrer ton probleme.
3) Si non ben fait un nouveau post pour ton nouveau probleme.

dans ce cas, si c'est pour installer une nouvelle version, c'est
rpm -U nom_du_fichier.rpm

Ca te plait Linux ? C'est sympa le systeme, mais faudra pas mal potasser. Mais au moins tu maitrise plus le systeme que Windows apres coup.

J'ai le même soucis. J'ai changé ma carte graphique en panne pour une 9600. startx plante.
N'y a-t-il pas moyen de démarrer XWindow dans un mode VGA, comme pour windows?
J'ai pris l'habitude d'installer avec les assistants de Mandrake et je suis assez incompétant pour configurer tout uniquement en shell.

c'est le moment d'apprendre ( et XFdrake se lance aussi en mode console ), de toute faço il faut installer en utilisant les commande shell ...
