fais un lsmod et regarde si le module usb-storage est chargé. 
sinon sous windows est ce que ton appareil est reconnu comme un disque dur externe ?

lorsque je tape lsmod y a pas de usb-storage  
sur Windows XP il est reconnu comme disque amovible

bah il te faut faire un  
modprobe usb-storage 
mkdir /mnt/muvo 
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/muvo  
 
apres tu devrais avoir tes mp3 dasn /mnt/muvo 
qqes fois il faut remplacer sda1 par sda tt court

ton appareil est bien branché ? il ne s'est pas mis en veille depuis le temps que tu fais tes tests ? il n'y a pas de mode special pour activer le transfert ? 
sinon essaie de changer de port usb... 
donne le resultat de cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

le système considère qu'il n'y a rien sur tes ports usb... je ne vois pas du tout d'où cela peut venir... normalement qd tu branches un usb il devrait apparaitre dans ce fichier. as tu essayé un autre port usb ?

voila j'ai un pote qui est chez moi et qui est venu avec son Creative muvo N200 , et j'aimerai savoir comment communiquer avec cet appareil via Linux Mandrake en USB afin de transferer des mp3 dessus
voili voilou, si vous savez comment s'y prendre je suis preneur

le probleme c'est qu'ils disent qu'il faut taper cat /proc/scsi/scsi pour voir si le creative muvo n200 est bien repéré, mais moi ds mon repertoire proc, je n'ai pas de repertoire scsi
