j'ai une carte nvidia (geforce2mx) avec les drivers proprios installés et seule la resolution 1152x864 dans le fichier XF86Config-4
quand gdm se lance c'est bien en 1152*864 mais apres le login: gnome passe en 1024*768 et dans le menu -> preferences du bureau -> resolution il y a 128*960, 1024*768, 800*600 mais pas de 1152*864...
le probleme c'est que sur un ecran 17" le 1024*768 est trop gros, le 1280*960 ne marche que @60Hz... l'ideal est le 1152*864@75Hz

gnome va pas te proposer des résolutions qui ne sont pas dans la conf de X ...

le probleme c'est que 1152*864 est dans XF86Config-4.conf
en ce moment je suis sous XFCE en 1280*960@60hz  :sarcastic: (gdm boote en 1280*960)

j'ai l impression que # dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 n'a rien changé :cry:  
 
j'avais deja eu des problemes avec les drivers nvidia sur un AMD k6: quand je me mettais en 1280*960@75hz et @60hz (sur un 19" qui tient en 1600*1200@65hz :love: ) il me mettait out of range :??:

A vue de nez, c'est pas le *.conf ton fichier principal...
Je crois que c'est l'autre.... [XF86Config-4] (a moins que l'un soit un raccourci sur l'autre, mais ca je suis pas sense le savoir)
