INSTALLATION PROCEDURE:
_______________________

Note: If you have downloaded the version of GTR 2002 that comes in many smaller files, make sure they are all in the same directory before proceeding.

Simply double-click the GTR2002.exe icon (there will be a delay as all 270MB of the archive is unpacked to a temporary folder - don't worry, it's working!). Next, you will see a series of dialog boxes that require that you locate two files on your system. These files are:

- Original F1 2002 executable. This is found in your top-level game directory and is usually called f1_2002.exe. The installer will search for this based on the standard registry key that comes with the game, so unless you've changed the location you should just be able to click "OK".

- Original F1 2002 configuration file (Config.ini). Again, unless you've done something odd to your installation you should just be able to click "OK". This is also to be found in your top-level game directory and is usually called CONFIG.INI. This Config file MUST not have been altered, i.e. all its entries should point to the original game's directories.

Once you've located and selected these two files, click the "Install" button. When the installation process is complete you should find a shortcut in your top-level F1 2002 directory called "GT Racing 2002". You can drag this directly to your desktop if you like. Double-click it and away you go! GT nirvana.

GETTING TO GRIPS WITH THE MENUS, GUI, & GT CHAMPIONSHIPS:
_________________________________________________________

UPDATING VIDEO DRIVERS:
-----------------------

If at any time in the future you update or change your video card/drivers, you should run F1 2002's 3D Set-up program. Failure to do so will cause problems whith GT Racing 2002.

CLASS RACING:
-------------

GT Racing 2002 supports two distinct classes of cars. The powerful and difficult to handle GT cars and the easier to control but fiercely competative NGT cars.

In addition there is a 3rd class called '24 Hour'. This will be used for add-on cars when updates for GT Racing 2002 become available. These cars are not available for use in a championship.

STARTING THE GAME:
------------------

To start GT Racing 2002, open the folder that you have installed F1 2002 to and double-click on the GTRacing2002 shortcut. You may like to drag this shortcut to your desktop to make starting more convinient in future.

You may skip the Introductory Video at any stage by clicking your mouse button or pressing a key.

PRE-GAME MENU:
--------------

When running GT Racing 2002 for the first time, you will be asked to create a new player profile. Enter your Name or Alias here to create a profile for use within the game.

From here you will be taken to the Pre-Game menu, which will be the first screen you see on subsequent starts.

First of all, at the top right of the screen you will see the name of the currently selected Player profile. If you have created more than one player profile, you can cycle through them using the small arrows just to the left of the Player profile name.

Gizmos:
-------

In the middle right of the screen are a selection of gizmos

Field:
------
This gizmo allows you to select which class or classes of racing you would like to participate in. Your selected car may also change along with the field if your selected car is not within the new class/classes you have selected.

Opponents:
----------
This is automatically set to the number of opponents according to your selected 'Field'. However you may lessen the number of opponents you wish to race against. If you do select to race against less opponents than are available in a given field, GT Racing 2002 will randomly select which cars it will drop from your race session. Also note that a maximum of 35 opponents applies to any selected field, even if there are more that 35 opponents available in that field.

Maximum Visible Vehicles:
-------------------------
This option sets the maximum number of vehicles that can be visible from your driving view. For example, if the Maximum Visible Vehicles is set to 10, then only the 10 closest vehicles to your car will be shown. All the other cars will still be racing, just not visible until you are closer to them. Whilst ideally all vehicles would be seen at all times, its often useful to reduce this setting to avoid choppy frame-rates whilst still retaining a high graphics quality.
Note that views other than driving views will show all cars regardless of this setting, unless using one of the lower opponent detail settings.

Glance Angle:
-------------
Whilst racing in a pack, its often necessary to look (or 'glance';) to the left or right or your car to see where any opponents are. For this reason, you can define keys that enable you to do just this. Its like turning your head. This setting allows you to fine tune the angle that your view will deviate to the left or right by, or how far left or right you want to turn your head.

Opponent Engine Volume:
-----------------------
This is the maximum volume level that all of the surrounding cars engines will be at in comparrison to your own engine. Handy if you are having trouble hearing when to shift gears amongst a pack of cars. We strongly recommend that this value is set at 70%.

Stats:
------

In the middle left of the screen is a small selection of statistics relating to the current player profile selected. These are self explanatory.

Icons:
------

Along the bottom of the screen are a selection of Icons that will take you to other menus. Hover over each icon and a tool-tip will be displayed showing what page each Icon will take you to

Exit:
-----
Quit Game

Select Car:
-----------
Change the currently selected car. This can also be used to check out the statistics of the currently available cars, including torque and power curves.

Select Control Set:
-------------------
Select from pre-defined controller settings. You can also make your own control sets for use in GT Racing 2002 with the Control Set Extractor provided in your F1 2002 installation folder. Refer to the section on CONTROL SET EXTRACTOR.

Championship:
-------------
Race a full 10 round Championship season in either a GT, NGT or combined GT/NGT fieled.

Delete Player:
--------------
Delete a player profile that you no longer want to use.

Create Player:
--------------
Create a new player profile.

Play Game:
----------
Takes you to the Main Menu from which further options setting and race options will be available.

CHAMPIONSHIP IN DETAIL:
_______________________

When entering the Championship Menu for the first time after creating a new player profile you will automaticly be taken to the Championship creation screen.

Here you can select various Championship settings such as race length, fuel and wear multipliers, the type of field, weather conditions and flag rules.

Once you accept your preffered settings, you will be asked to select a car to compete in the championship with.

Once a Championship season has been created, you will be taken to the Championship table, listing all of the drivers that are to compete. The drivers are listed in order of the total championship 'points'. You can also sort the list by the number of wins or number of pole positions by clicking on the 'wins' or 'poles' headings.

In the case of a full 36 car combined GT/NGT championship, a separate points table is available for the NGT cars. NGT cars compete in a minor championship of their own as well as in the complete championship. The NGT championship standings are available from this menu only and are shown by clicking on the 'class' heading. Note that the NGT championship standings are not available anywhere else within GT Racing 2002 and to see this table after completing a race, you will have to quit and re-start GT Racing 2002.

When you wish to continue an on-going championship, you will have to enter the Championship menu from the Pre-Game Menu, and select 'Play Game'.

CONTROL SET EXTRACTOR:
______________________

You can select control sets for GT Racing 2002 within the Pre-Game Menu. The provided control sets may not be suitable for your controller so you will have to set your controller settings from within the main game. You can then use the provided Control Set Extractor program to extract the controller information from your player profile, and create a GT Racing 2002 compatable control set.

Control Set Extractor.exe is found in your F1 2002 installation directory. Run the program, press 'Extract' and locate the player profile file (.PLR) you wish to extract the controller information from. Enter the control set name and a brief description or Author name. Press Save.

The Control Sets are stored in your GTR2002Save directory and are recognised by their .CTS file identifier. It contains button, axis control, sensitivity, deadzone and force feedback settings.

If you have made a Control Set and would like to share it with others, or if you are looking for a control set that is specifically tailored to your brand of wheel, visit The SimBin GT Racing 2002 forum at www.SimMods/Forums/

PHYSICS MODELLING:
__________________

Approximately 1200 hours of tweaking went into the physics modelling since Doug Arnao tested the first F1-2002 betas way back in April 2002. Below is a brief overview of each aspect of the GT Racing 2002 physics modelling. (For those who are technically minded, more comprehensive information, including setup advice, can be found in the GTR2002Physics.pdf file in the F12002 root directory)

Suspension:
-----------

All the cars have unique (to that car) suspension geometry. The GT cars in the game feature traditional double A-arm suspension modelled, except the Porsches. They have a McPherson front strut, and the rear is the Weissac 5-link (both accurately modelled). ISI's Physics engine is unique in that it does real-time suspension geometry while the car is moving. The roll centers, camber gains, anti-dive, bump-steer, caster is ALL done in real-time. And if you?re wondering ? no, GPL doesn?t do this

Tyres:
---------

We?ve included 4 different tyre brands in GT Racing 2002. Here?s a run down on the differences ...

Dunlop:
Broad slip curve, probably the most forgiving of the lot. Medium wear, but will generate heat (which leads to wear) if abused.

Michelin:
Narrowest slip curve of them all. More precise, but rewarding if driven that way. Medium heat ? the worst wear, but if you drive them like they demand, the wear will be quite good. Don?t over-drive them if you are looking to last 100 litres fuel run

Pirelli:
Similar to the Michelin, but not quite as precise. The most durable of the bunch, with the best wear rate, but will reach its slip peak at a lower load then the others, so they might bite a bit more than the rest. These tires are hard to beat in long races, though.

Yokohama:
GT only. A bit behind the rest in technology so grip is a tad below the rest, but very similar to the Dunlops in forgiveness, but has the excellent wear of the Pirelli. Only used on the 993GT2.

Tyre Warming:
------------
The optimum temperature range for all the tyres is 95-115C. Please note that the tyres take TWO FULL LAPS to get up to operating temperature. So don?t judge any setup changes until you?ve done 4 or 5 laps.

Rain Tyres:
----------
Are now fully implemented. The characteristic differences are not as great as with the dry tyres.

Aerodynamics:
------------

Each car is accurately modeled in their aerodynamic packages. Each car has four different ?splitter? configurations and for the GT cars a maximum of 20 degrees of rear wing adjustment. These set the tone of the aero package as it relates to the track type.

Brakes:
-------

Much time went into making the brakes act like the real thing. Peak brake torque occurs at 500C; Noticeable fade will happen at 800C. Also, remember they need to be warmed up: if you go out of the pits with cold brakes, don?t go stampeding the first corner, you ain?t gonna? stop. Like the tyres give it at least 1 lap to get near the peak stopping temperature.

Engine Heat:
-----------

Engine heat is also modeled. It?s controlled by the radiator opening duct. Low settings for the fast tracks and higher for the slow tracks. You will lunch (in British English, blow the fuck out of) the motor if you run it hot for an extended length of time. Not only smoke, but fire and big flames. Optimum temp is 95-105 degrees.

Gearbox and Clutch:
-----------------

Gear ratios are taken from Quaife and X-track. The two biggest suppliers of transmissions to GT racing. Clutch torques and friction have been extensively tweaked to make them feel realistic when using a clutch.

Semi-automatic gearboxes:
-------------------------

Although they are implemented in the game as shipped (for playability reasons), they are illegal to use in the FIAGT series. For the ultimate realistic experience, change this line in the HDV of the car you are driving:

[DRIVELINE]
semiautomatic=1 change to ?0?

Now you will have to do your own throttle blipping on up and down shifts à la GPL. Most of team, prefer this method.

Fueluse:
--------

Unfortunately, F1-2002 guesses fuel use off throttle position and RPM?s when the AIW (AI line) is constructed. Since the NGT?s run a higher RPM range than most of the GTs, the Laps the game calculates that you will make in a GT car is off by 30% or so. It will under estimate the laps, so it?s safe you won?t run out of fuel. The NGT?s are accurate. ISI is working to make this more flexible in future releases.

AIW (Artifical Intelligence Waypoint file):
------------------------------------------
These are completely re-done for GTR2002. It?s no secret now that ISI has entrusted Doug Arnao with their AIW creation tools to allow completely new AIW to be made. The AIW line is actually ?driven? and recorded by the type of car that is used. Doug has created new and highly tuned AIW?s specifically for GTR2002?s cars. Great pain was taken to drive the lines as accurately and smoothly as possible. Also many of the ?bad passing attempt? areas have been marked illegal for the AI to drive on, making for a better racing experience. It?s far from perfect and there are still issues with the underlying AI decision making process, but it?s pretty damn good in general... at 100% strength they are really tough.

AI setup files:
--------------

These are no longer located in the \save folder, but in each individual cars folder. This was a change implemented in F1-2002 (and requested by Doug ? thanks T-Bone!) so we could individually setup each car as the cars are so different. so if for some reason you want to do some messing around with them, don?t look in the \GTR2002save folder they?ll be in each teams folder.

SOUNDS:
_______

For GT racing 2002, all sounds have been completely re-modelled and have been sampled, wherever possible, from the actual cars themselves.

Where the interior sounds are concerned, our aim was to capture as much of the noise the driver hears in the cockpit as possible, without compromising playability or inducing headaches. So, you will be able to hear the engine note, the transmission noise, gear changes, back fires and, where appropriate, the turbo-charger spinning and the waste-gate releasing excess gas. To enhance the driving experience, we have altered the tyre-skid noise to allow the driver to better judge the grip level as the car begins to lose grip and/or traction.

In order to achieve the optimum balance between the sound of your car and those of your competitors, we strongly advise you to leave the other player's engine volume at 70%.

BEFORE YOU TURN A WHEEL:
_______________________

The GT Racing 2002 MOD has been designed with one overriding aim: to create the most realistic GT Racing simulation currently possible.

GT Racing 2002 is a pure simulation and it is extremely challenging to drive; remember it may take many hundreds of laps before you become competetive.

We would strongly advise you to begin driving with an NGT car - any Porsche 996 GT3 or one of the Ferrari 360 Modenas. The NGT cars are easier to handle - and are considerably slower - than their GT counterparts, but they make for very close and agressive racing, especially on the more technically demanding circuits where patience and throttle control make driving a GT car very tricky indeed.

Once you move up to the GT cars, you'll soon realise the brutal power these machines unleash. With over 600BHP and 600Nnms torque, you need to treat them with the utmost respect, otherwise they will simply spin you around and spit you into the wall. Like the NGTs, each GT car has a character of its own: the Turbo Porsches need to be hussled around the corners using the throttle to keep the nose tucked into the apex; the Vipers major on torque and have immense in-gear acceleration; the Lister is the most neutral handling car, and is possibly the easiest GT to drive fast; the 550 Maranellos come in two flavours, fast and obscenely fast; the Marcos LM600 is perhaps the most difficult to drive - but once you master it, you will not want to drive any other car.

Unlike in Forumla 1, the FIA GT championship does not permit traction control to be used. However, unless you are an experienced Sim racer (with sims like GPL, FIA GT MOD V3), we would recommend that you begin by using traction control until you become comfortable with the driving model. Similarly, you may find that braking help is useful until you get used to the brake temperature model and the different brake characteristics of each car.

And finally: try to enjoy it, there's a good chap!

y en a un sur rsdg.net : un circuit
imaginaire.
Sinon, en allant sur  Simbin dans les forums, tu trouveras Laguna Seca, Brands Hatch, le tracé 2001 d'hochenheim...
