This 22.2-inch LCD panel being sold by Viewsonic uses the same panel developed and marketed by IBM last year. The difference is that IBM charged nearly $20,000 for their its version; Viewsonic plans on selling theirs this one for around $8,000. That's still pretty pricey -- what makes this panel so special?

Try 9.2 million pixels, for one thing. This 16x9 aspect ration panel has a native resolution of 3840x2400 pixels. That translates to roughly 200 dots per inch. In fact, you have to put your nose up to the screen to really notice the pixels. Scanned topographical maps could be easily read, even down to the smallest typeface. The monitor is targeted towards specialized image processing and CAD applications, and offers a 400:1 contrast ratio. Driving 9.2 megapixels requires a graphics card with twin TMDS transmitters.

Juste un peu trop cher pour moi: $8000

3840x2400 !

j'espere que les algo d'interpolation pour les resolutions non natives sont efficace !

ou alors faudra prendre une NV90 pour pas ramer !

IBM announced it will reduce by half the retail price of its top-of-the-line, high-resolution T221 LCD monitor.

The 22.2-inch screen T221 flat panel monitor is now available for $8,399.  It offers the highest resolution display currently in production by IBM, with a 170-degree viewing angle that rivals a traditional CRT display.  With more than nine million pixels across the screen, IBM is the only company to deliver such clear picture clarity in an LCD monitor.

The combined QUXGA-W resolution and UXGA-W resolution support provides businesses with the ability to toggle between the two resolutions -- allowing users room to grow into the next-generation QUXGA-W technology or giving them the opportunity to exploit the new picture quality (204 pixels per inch) with existing applications, or move between the two resolutions when needed.

Usability is enhanced for financial analysts viewing reports, designers preparing publications or Web pages, scientists analyzing satellite imagery -- plus professionals in the engineering, design, petroleum exploration and digital content creation industries.

The T221 is the result of years of development by IBM Research and display organizations on high-resolution, near-photographic-quality displays.  The T221 offers a maximum resolution of 3840 x 2400, 170 degree viewing angle, digital connectivity, 1 to 400 contrast ratio and a USB interface for microcode update capability and future color management capability.
